Terms of use

A guide to Himalayan treks. Difficulty grades, peak visibility and similar figures are computed by our own models from public data, and are estimates. Trail notes are written by trekkers. None of it replaces local guides, forest and police permits, weather forecasts or your own judgement in the mountains.

When you add a photo or note, you confirm that you took the photo yourself (or have the rights to share it) and that what you wrote is honest to the best of your knowledge.

You keep the copyright. You give TrekBaba a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to show, resize and crop it on TrekBaba and in links to it (for example, a preview when someone shares your Journey), with your name. This licence ends when you delete the photo or your account, except for copies already shared by others or kept briefly in backups.

If you offer a photo as a trek's coverand trekkers vote it in, the same licence covers showing it as that trek page's cover image, on the trek cards and in link previews, always with your name. Withdraw it from your profile at any time and it comes down within a few minutes.

• Photos you didn't take, or that you copied from another site or Instagram account.
• Close-up photos of other people without their consent, especially children.
• False warnings, fake conditions, or pins deliberately placed in the wrong spot.
• Advertising, phone numbers for bookings, or promotion of a business — in pins, bios or trip write-ups.
• Pretending to be someone else, or gaming points (duplicate or junk pins are removed, with their points).
• Anything hateful, sexual, violent or illegal.

Every pin is reviewed before it appears. We can decline, edit the placement of, or remove any pin, and suspend accounts that break these rules. Anyone can report a pin with the ⚑ Report link. If you believe something on TrekBaba is your work and was shared without permission, write to admin@trekbaba.comand we'll take it down promptly.

A warning on a trail is one trekker's report on one day. Conditions change by the hour. We don't verify them, and TrekBaba isn't responsible for decisions made on the strength of them. If in doubt, ask locally, and turn back.

You can delete any pin, or your whole account and everything in it, from your account page at any time. See the privacy policy for what we store.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page with a new date.
